The assembly operations have been completed at Unit 2 reactor of the Belarusian NPP (the General Designer and General Contractor is Rosatom Engineering Division) to ensure the cold and hot run stage.
The assembly process included the installation of the reactor internals, loading of fuel assembly dummies into the reactor, installation of the protective tubes unit and the upper unit — the reactor head.
Along with the reactor assembly, the equipment of the reactor primary and second circuit was tested as part of the hydraulic tests stage.
In the coming days, specialists will start filling the primary circuit of the power unit with chemically desalinated water and, after having obtained the required permits, they will proceed to the main tests to be followed by the hot running of the reactor of Unit 2 of the Belarusian NPP.
The Belarusian NPP with two reactors of VVER-1200 type with a total capacity of 2,400 MW is being constructed in Ostrovets (the Republic of Belarus). The first NPP in the Republic of Belarus is based on Gen III+ Russian design, which fully complies with international standards and safety recommendations of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Power Unit 1 of the Belarusian NPP is the first operating Russian-design unit of the newest Gen III + built abroad.
