The 10th International Smart Holiday organized by Rosatom School, held at the Solnyshko (Little Sun) camp in the town of Lesnoy, has come to an end. The project brought together 48 schoolchildren from different countries around the world, including Egypt, Zambia, India, Turkey and Russia.
For the Turkish and Egyptian participants, the Smart Holidays program was a unique opportunity to become acquainted with their peers from countries where projects of the Rosatom State Corporation are being implemented, to feel the national flavor of each country, and primarily Russia. From the very first day, the students were plunged into a multilingual environment and quickly managed to find common interests.
Every day was filled with a variety of events that, including sports, and cultural and educational activities. Children shared the traditions of their respective countries through various activities and workshops, including their national holidays, dances and games. The special mood of the children's camp was set with the weather of a real Russian winter, and the children were happy to take part in Russia's traditional winter entertainments, including sledging, skiing and snowball fights.
During the holiday, the participants learned about the traditions and peculiarities of the Russian culture, made details of the Russian national costume, tried dishes from the Russian cuisine, participated in various creative workshops and intellectual competitions, performed theater sketches, played with new friends and studied Russian.
The atmosphere of openness and hospitality fostered by the Smart Holidays Project brought children of different nationalities together, despite the lack of a common language. Before returning home, the participants from Turkey were able to walk around Red Square in Moscow and to see the landmarks of the capital of the Russian Federation.
The participants from Turkey and Egypt returned home with vivid memories of their holiday in Russia. As stated by Ece Betül Şan: “Every day was very busy, and I couldn’t believe at all how quickly time flew by. Every activity was wonderful. I’d like to thank everyone who took part in organizing the camp. I liked learning about the traditions of all the countries, especially the Russian culture and dances. I hope that they liked the Turkish culture too.”
