JSC RUSATOM SERVICE STARTED SCHEDULED PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE OF NPP "BUSHEHR"

Specialists of JSC Rusatom Service started scheduled preventive maintenance (SPM) of the NPP "Bushehr". For this purpose earlier, on January 22, the power unit was stopped. It is the third SPM of the power unit that will be carried out on the NPP "Bushehr-1" with the participation of the Russian specialists.
SPM is a complex of the organizational and technical arrangements which are regularly held on power units of any NPP for equipment diagnostics and defects prevention. SPM  is targeted to the prevention of premature wear-out of the components, nodes and mechanisms and keeping them in operable state.
Rusatom Service specialists will provide maintenance of the most critical and complicated equipment: average repair of the reactor with a partial overload of fuel, capital repairs of the main circulation pulser (MCP), repair of a turbine unit with opening of three low pressure cylinders, a complex maintenance of automatic process control system and electric equipment, repair of the security system channels equipment An overload of nuclear fuel will take palce during the SPM as well.
SPM was preceded by the work of special commission consisting of JSC Rusatom Service specialists and NPP personnel.   The commission checked the NPP in accordance with the complex of preparatory activities to the SPM. Special attention was paid to quality assurance and production practices of maintenance works.
"The work which was carried out before the SPM confirmed readiness of NPP and contractors to accomplish SPM within the time limit and ensure the quality that will guarantee reliable operation of the power unit", - said Sergey Sharabanov, Head of the Maintenance department of JSC Rusatom Service.
SPM will take place within two months.

The NPP "Bushehr" is a unique station.  It not only the first NPP in the Middle East but also a unique technological object. Rosatom accomplished the construction that German concern Kraftwerk Union A.G. (Siemens/KWU) began in 1974. Atomstroyexport (affiliated enterprise of Rosatom) managed to integrate Russian equipment into the construction part built by the German specialists and use approximately 12 thousand tons of the German equipment. Project designers had to think up, develop and apply a number of original technical ideas and a know-how.
The first unit of the NPP "Bushehr" was connected to the national power grid of Iran in September, 2011. In April, 2016 the unit was finally handed over to Iran that became the official completion of construction project. At the same time Rosatom continues maintenance of the unit and provides it with nuclear fuel. On September 10, 2016 a ceremony on the beginning of the construction of two more power units with the participation of Russian specialists took place in Bushehr (project Bushehr-2).
