On February 5, at the international Nordic Nuclear Forum 2019 in Helsinki, the World Nuclear University (WNU) and Rosatom Technical Academy signed an agreement to hold a specialized WNU School on Radiation Technologies in Russia.
The agreement was signed by the World Nuclear Association Director General and WNU President Ms.Agneta Rising and Rector of Rosatom Technical Academy Mr.Yuriy N. Seleznev. The School is a two-week programme of lectures and practical sessions delivered by distinguished experts in the field of radiation application and isotope production. It is held biennially by the WNU in collaboration with the IAEA (the previous School was organized in 2017 in Sao Paulo, Brazil), with the Agency providing the School with financial support through scholarships.
In 2019, the School will be held in Obninsk, Russia’s first science city, becoming a significant step in the establishment of a system for training personnel for future Centers of Nuclear Science and Technology (CNSTs). It is planned to invite participants from countries that are potential recipients of CNSTs to demonstrate the capacities Obninsk possesses in operating research reactors (Karpov Scientific Research Institute of Physics and Chemistry, NIFKhI), isotope production (IPPE), their application in medicine (A. Tsyb Medical Radiological Research Center, MRRC) and agriculture (Russian Institute of Agricultural Radiology and Argoecology, RIARAE). Registrations for RT WNU School are now open, please click here
