The foreign students from NRNU MEPhI completed their externship in the Volgodonsk Branch of “AEM-technology” (a part of the machine-building division of Rosatom – Atomenergomash). 30 students representing Turkey and studying in the 5th year of “Nuclear Power Plants: Design, Operation And Engineering" department have been trained at the site of “Atommash” within the framework of the Resource center. The young specialists studied in MEPhI within the program of “Rosatom” with subsequent employment at the Turkish Akkuyu NPP.

During their work experience at the plant, the students have become acquainted with the main flows of production of nuclear equipment, including the reactor and steam generators (PGV) for the NPP in Turkey. The 5th year student, Hasan Kirici, said the following: "It is very important for my future profession to get acquainted with the processes of manufacturing equipment that meets the highest requirements of nuclear safety in real time. When I learned that I could study within the Rosatom program, I decided without hesitation. I entered and passed the exam to come to Russia. It is a difficult study, but if I had a chance to make a choice again, I would choose Rosatom again."

The students have studied some methods of non-destructive testing applied at Atommash. The future specialists took part in ultrasonic testing of the steam generator assemblies, eddy current testing of PGV heat exchanging tubes, and liquid penetrant testing of welding probes. Also, all the students have completed a training program on equipment acceptance procedures at manufacturing plants.

Vasilina Karelina, HR Director at the AEM-technology, Volgodonsk Branch said: “The bulk of Atommash order book is the equipment for foreign customers. We participate in almost all the international projects implemented by the State Corporation Rosatom. For us, the Resource center is an opportunity to share experience with the people who will operate our equipment. As well as a way to increase the recognition of Atommash abroad. Students are always happy to share their impressions about the plant”.

Together with the students from NRNU MEPhI, 3 Master’s degree students of Tomsk Polytechnic University from Brazil, India and Nigeria have completed their training at Atommash. The Volgodonsk Branch of “AEM-technology”, within the framework of the Resource Center, had already received foreign students studying for engineering, maintenance and repair of Russian and foreign NPPs. Since 2016, more than 350 people have undertaken a work experience at Atommash: citizens of Jordan, Vietnam, Egypt, Bangladesh, Chile, Bulgaria, and Armenia. In 2019, the plant is planning to train another 200 students.
