May 15, 2018 – Sochi. During the 10th « TOMEXPO 2018» Forum, the State Atomic Energy Corporation "Rosatom" and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment of the Republic of Cuba signed a memorandum of understanding and strategic partnership for the development and application of irradiation technologies.
On the Russian side, the Memorandum was signed by Deputy Director General for international relations of the State Corporation Rosatom Nikolay Spassky and from the Cuban side, by the Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and the Environment, Alonso Mederos.
The agreement assumes the development of a long-term strategic partnership in the implementation of joint projects in the development and application of irradiation technologies. The parties will hold meetings to determine the directions, format and basic conditions for the cooperation. One of the directions is the implementation of the multipurpose gamma irradiation center facility, in the "Mariel" special economic zone.
