While attending ATOMEX-2018 International Forum of Nuclear Industry Suppliers, Turkish and Korean participants visited Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant, the biggest nuclear powerplant in the northwest of Russia. The innovative design solutions, new industrial construction methods used at the construction site of Leningrad NPP, a branch of Rosenergoatom which is a group company of State Atomiс Energy Corporation ROSATOM, who is building Akkuyu NPP, the first NPP of Turkey, were showed and explained to the visitors.

This year, 1670 participants from more than 30 countries gathered for ATOMEX-2018. Among the foreign countries, Korea and Turkey took the lead with their delegate numbers. Representatives of these countries participated in the forum with the aim of a technical tour in the new energy units areas of Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant on December, 5-6.
The visitors coming from Turkey, had a chance to observe the process of the super-powered, innovative power unit No. 2 of the Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant. The montage method of the main equipment of the unit of which construction is still continuing was explained to the visitors. Visitors viewing the plant with interest were left with positive impressions.
Representative of Ankara Chamber of Industry (Turkey) Ceyda Polat said: “This the second time I have visited Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant-2 and I see that this sector has been improving dynamically. For the first time, we were shown the way of the power unit No. 1 of VVER-1200’s being prepared for important commissioning operations -cold hot run-in. And now, it has been put into industry-oriented operation. The power unit No.2 also has been very noticeably grown since that time. I especially came here again with the aim of observing which power units can be constructed in our country within a short time of period.

Representative of Agency of Thermal Nuclear Power Plants Supply Department (Korea) Yang Teng Co said: “I have heard a lot about Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant and I would like to extend my gratitude for giving me an opportunity to be here and your hospitality you showed me. Providing a high level of safety operation opportunity for Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant, including the gradual safety system has impressed me. Also, we are very pleased that the equipments of Korean Manufacturers work on the VVER-1200 reactor unit successfully. The nuclear energy capacity in our country is low currently; however, I hope that new and more advanced projects will be carried out in Korea in the future.”
